Buddha's Triangle or The Calming Triangle
The Buddhist triangle is located on the wrist. Illustrated in the picture, three points—Lung 9, Heart 7, and Pericardium 6 —create a triangle on the palm side of the wrist. These three points together form a powerful combination to help reduce anxiety. The three points also help calm your nervous system.
Lung 9 (Found on the wrist’s radial crease where the radial artery pulses): LU9 is considered the 'source point' of the Lung meridian, this point helps to clear blockages along the entire Lung meridian. It aids in easing breathing, reducing phlegm, alleviating asthmatic symptoms, and warming cold hands and feet. Since the Lung is linked to grief and sadness, stimulating Lung 9 can help relieve feelings of sadness, depression, and a heavy heart.
Pericardium 6 (Located on the palm side of the forearm, about 1.5 inches above the wrist crease, between two tendons): This point helps to open the chest, protect the heart, calm the spirit, and relieve nausea and vomiting. P6 is a highly popular and useful point, particularly effective in treating insomnia, melancholy, and repressed emotions.
Heart 7 (Situated on the wrist’s ulnar crease between two tendons): Known as ShenMen, which means the gate of spirit, HT7 is considered the heart meridian’s source point. It is widely used for treating insomnia, cardiac pain, amnesia, palpitations due to fright, epilepsy, mania and even stupor. HT7 is especially effective for emotional issues, particularly excessive worry and anxiety.
Applying gentle but firm pressure on these triangle points for 4-5 seconds each, twice a day, can significantly help in managing anxiety, depression, frustration, eating disorders, pent-up anger, and other repressed emotions. You can use the blunt side of a ballpoint pen to press these points.
