Prolonged periods of stress or traumatic events can take your form a positive rest and digest state (parasympathetic), into the fight or flight state (sympathetic) with regard to your nervous system responses.

Fight and flight is useful when there is a true threat. The sad thing is if your ‘alarm systems’ for threats is having system error from prolonged stress you will be in ‘threat and escape mode’ all the time. Living in modern day society creates such stressors. If you have ever been anxious or depressed you would have certainly been in this state for some period of time.

Fortunately you can re-train your mind to know that it does not need to be in threat mode.

Regular repetition (2-3 times a day) for weeks and months will allow you to get back to the rest and digest mode as a base line. This allows you to live a joyful, purposeful and fulfilled life.
