The acupoint "GB 25" , 京門, is represented by "Jing Men" in Pinyin. It is also referred to as "Capital Gate" in English. This acupuncture point can be found on the lateral side of the abdomen on the lower border of the free end of the 12th rib.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

• When dealing with a deficiency in Kidney energy (KD deficiency), there can be a specific focal pain experienced in the lumbar or lateral costal area.

• Kidney and Spleen imbalances associated with dampness can manifest as symptoms such as diarrhea, particularly of the watery and cold variety, as well as feelings of bloating and abdominal distention.

• This acupuncture point can act as a diuretic, aiding in conditions like urinary retention, challenging urination, and edema.

• When confronted with uterine stones, this point can facilitate their passage.

GB25 is a unique point that serves primarily as a diagnostic reference rather than a treatment site, despite being classified as a Front-Mu point. Front-Mu points have a valuable role in the treatment of diseases affecting the Zang-Fu organs, Yang meridians, and their related collaterals. They are particularly effective in addressing conditions related to the Six Fu-organs and Yang meridians. Interestingly, applying pressure to a Front-Mu point can yield essential diagnostic insights.
