What exactly is confidence?
Confidence is knowing what you are good at and is a way of conveying to others that you can be relied upon to do certain things. In the same way, you can have confidence or a belief in something or someone. In social circles, you may come across as very confident, but this may not be the way you see yourself, or the way that you actually are. In fact, your social confidence may be nothing more than a mask to hide a lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem.
The truth could come out when, if you are asked to make a speech or talk in front of a large group of people, your air of confidence disappears like mist in the wind. We can then assume that confidence is not always a constant emotion, but rather depends on the particular circumstances and activity you are involved in.
A fear of failure, and concern about what people may think if you do not succeed, is typical of having no self-confidence, which can result in you missing many opportunities to get on in life.
What is self-confidence?
Self-confidence, although linked, is not the same as confidence. Self-confidence is best described as having the confidence to believe and trust in your own abilities without any fear of failure. Confident, and self-confident, people inspire confidence in others like friends, family, customers, colleagues etc. Gaining the confidence of others is a major way in which a self-confident person achieves success.
Self-confidence is important in almost every aspect of life, and yet so many people battle to find it. A lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem go hand in hand, and if this is you, you may find it very difficult to be successful in life.
Some behaviour patterns associated with low self-confidence.
· Basing your behaviour on what other people think, instead of doing what you feel led to do.
· Because of a fear of failure, you are not willing to take any risks.
· Instead of admitting to a mistake, you beat yourself up trying to fix the problem before anyone notices.
· Instead of accepting a compliment for something well done, you are inclined to brush it off as something anyone could have done.
· You either avoid a task which may present a challenge, or quit at the first sign of frustration.
· Believe that you can never do anything right, and often verbalise it.
· Have a poor opinion of your body image.
· Have a sometimes pathological desire to please everyone.
Low self-esteem can have a negative impact on your life and prevent you from reaching your full potential. The good news is that self-confidence can actually be learned and built on. However, as behaviours vary from person to person, different approaches may be needed to deal with different issues.
How hypnosis can help build your self-confidence.
During hypnosis, you will not be asleep or unconscious in any way. You will not be made to do anything you do not want to do, and during hypnotherapy for self-confidence issues, your underlying character will not be changed in any way.
You will be in a relaxed state, with a mind that is open to positive suggestions that the therapist will make, and will be fully accepted into the subconscious mind for you to draw on when needed.
Self-confidence is often elusive, and it may be something you have never had, but with the help of a skilled hypnotherapist, it is something you too will be able to experience.
How will it work?
The therapist may first look to establish which negative events or comments from the past could have led to feelings of low self-esteem. You may have had to endure constant criticism and given no encouragement, even from a young age, which led to the idea that you have no value as a person. These negative, destructive ideas will need to be eliminated from your subconscious and conscious mind, and replaced with positive, reassuring beliefs in yourself and your abilities.
Hypnosis will help to reprogram your mind by the use of positive affirmations to build your confidence, drastically improve your self-image, and greatly raise your level of self-confidence.
Extensive studies have proved hypnosis to be an excellent tool to deal with all aspects of life situations, and this is especially true when it comes to confidence and self-confidence issues, which is the cornerstone of success in life.
A lack of self-confidence, often caused by irrational fears, can be turned around. Hypnosis can easily teach you that fear is a phobia which can easily be treated and rectified.
Hypnotherapy, and a skilled therapist, can help an individual to create very powerful feelings of self-confidence, and you will be surprised just how quickly and easily a lack of self-confidence can be turned around.
