Hypnotherapy and NLP for Transpersonal Development

Hypnotherapy & NLP for Transpersonal Development  Adelaide

The common types of psychotherapy focus on your mental or psychological health only. Little or no effort is put into improving other aspects of your life. As a result, many people are left with physical, social and even spiritual needs even after going through the entire therapy process.

Transpersonal hypnotherapy Adelaide takes care of this inadequacy.

Transpersonal hypnotherapy is based on the transpersonal branch of psychology. The therapy process seeks to understand and addresses your needs in all the various aspects of your life.

You can therefore use transpersonal hypnotherapy to holistically address your mental, psychological, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs.

Due to its holistic approach, transpersonal hypnotherapy has been used extensively to help people achieve personal growth and development.

How transpersonal therapy works

Spirituality is the primary basis of transpersonal hypnotherapy. The other important aspect of the therapy is the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind.

The transpersonal therapist understands that the conscious brain is rational and is involved in decision-making based on logic. For example, by analyzing the road conditions between your house and your workplace, the conscious brain helps you decide the right time to leave home for you to arrive in time.

On the other hand, the subconscious brain is irrational and is the source of all types of phobias, anxiety, self-esteem, motivation etc. These features are not based on logic but rather on subconscious thoughts and memories that we have accumulated over time.

The therapy process acknowledges that as a human being, your spirituality, conscious mind, subconscious mind, and physical mind are all interconnected.

For example, when you are not well spiritually, you are likely physical and mental unhealthiness.

The therapy therefore aims to sync all these aspects of your life so that you are able to identify the areas that are unwell, the cause and work towards healing.

The four-prong approach of transpersonal hypnotherapy

Transpersonal therapy is based on transpersonal psychology which combines the four waves of psychology i.e. Psychoanalytic theory, Behavioral Psychology, Humanistic Psychology, and Transpersonal Psychology.

The transpersonal therapy process consists of four approaches which are used concurrently to address issues. The four-pronged approach borrows heavily from the four waves of psychology discussed above.

 The four approaches include:

I.             Underlying issues: you will work either alone or with your therapist to identify and review the issues in your life that are hindering your personal development in a specific area.

The issues are usually related embedded in your subconscious brain and may be from your present or past.

II.           A point of change: You will identify the changes that you need to make on your personal life in order to achieve the desired goals.

III.         Personal mastery: this approach involves harnessing your mental, spiritual, emotional and physical potential needed to work towards the desired outcome.

IV.        Spiritual potential: perhaps the most integral part of transpersonal hypnotherapy. It involves the realization of the spiritual benefits of the achieving what you have been working towards.

Application of transpersonal hypnotherapy

Oftentimes you find yourself stuck in pursuit of a goal. For example, you want to start exercising in order to get in shape but you just can't get yourself to commit to a workout routine. Or you are simply unable to put the extra effort you know you need in your studies so that you can qualify for a scholarship.

Other times it is the inability to stop a bad behavior.

In either instances, your conscious mind knows the benefits of making the desired change but still you can't find the will to actualize the change.

This therefore means that the problem is in your subconscious mind or spiritual part.

Using the four transpersonal approaches, you can identify the spiritual and subconscious hindrances that are preventing you from performing to your full potential.

The same approach is used when you want to overcome issues that are weighing you down such as stress, phobia, and trauma.

Transpersonal therapy is therefore a holistic resource that you can use improve in the following ways:

·     To identify what’s holding you back

·     To eliminate the negative stuff in your life

·     To identify the positive aspects of your life and make steps to enhance them

·     To set personal, academic, social, spiritual or career goals

·     To maintain focus and commitment to the goals you have set

·     Mastery of positive behavior and skills

After my father died I went searching for something. Not religion exactly, more a sense that there was more to all of this than the everyday. I’d tried meditation apps, read the books, done the retreats. Hypnotherapy went somewhere the other approaches hadn’t. We did some work that I can only describe as transpersonal, connecting with something beyond my individual self, accessing what felt like wisdom that wasn’t mine. I don’t have the language for it even now but it’s the most meaningful work I’ve ever done. I still live an ordinary life. I just live it differently.

If you are drawn to a more holistic, whole-person approach to growth, I would be glad to talk it through. A confidential, no-pressure conversation costs nothing, in person in Adelaide or online wherever you are.

Frequently asked questions

What is transpersonal hypnotherapy?

It is a holistic form of hypnotherapy that works with the whole person, mind, emotions, body and spirit, rather than psychological symptoms alone. Rooted in transpersonal psychology, it is used mainly for personal growth and development, alongside conventional care where a clinical issue is involved.

How is it different from ordinary hypnotherapy or counselling?

Most approaches focus on the psychological side. Transpersonal work adds the emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions and looks at how they connect, which is why it suits people seeking growth and a sense of meaning rather than only symptom relief.

Do I have to be religious or spiritual for this to work?

No. Spirituality here means your sense of meaning, purpose and connection, however you understand that, rather than any particular religion. The work meets you where you are and does not require any specific belief.

Is this a replacement for seeing a doctor or psychologist?

No. Transpersonal hypnotherapy is a complement to medical and psychological care. Where there is a diagnosed condition, it is best worked with alongside your GP or therapist rather than instead of them.

Will I lose control under hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is a state of focused, comfortable relaxation. You stay aware, you can speak, and you can stop at any time.

What kinds of things do people use it for?

Commonly for personal growth, motivation, breaking through where they feel stuck, building better habits, and moving through stress, fears or difficult past experiences, all with an eye to the whole person rather than a single symptom.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies with the person and what you are working toward. Some come for a specific block; others do broader, ongoing growth work. We set a realistic expectation together in the first session.

Can we do sessions online?

Yes. Sessions are available in person at the Evandale rooms or as online sessions across Australia and internationally, with research showing outcomes comparable to face-to-face work. This reflective kind of work translates well to video from a quiet space of your own.
