Why using NLP will help you build rapport easier

Having the ability to build rapport with many different types of people can put you on the right path of success. This could be professionally or personally in terms of the relationships you build.

The core of this essential skill is to be able to communicate effectively. In some, this is natural but in others, it takes a bit of learning, and since you’re reading this I’m assuming that you’re looking on learning to improve your communication skills.

Learning NLP is a productive way to help you do just that and in turn, it makes rapport building a lot more easier to do which will put you on the right path to success.

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-linguistic programming. It is the practice of understanding why and how people think, feel and communicate by focusing on neurology, language and function. To simply put it, learning NLP techniques can be seen as understanding the language of your mind.

Does NLP work?

As an NLP practitioner myself, I have found that NLP can be a powerful way to help people use the techniques that they have learned to improve their communication skills thus, improving their relationships with themselves, and others.

Like many practices, NLP can be a subjective and unique experience. NLP, Hypnosis and NLP Coaching can be used in many different fields to help you personally. Many people that learn NLP have found it life-changing and worth learning as it can significantly improve the quality of their professional and personal life.

Benefits of learning NLP:

●      Improves your communication

●      Helps you build strong rapport

●      Be more influential

●      Increased confidence

●      Building stronger relationships

●      More positive frame of mind

●      Better leadership skills

How NLP can help you with building rapport

Think back to a time when you first meet someone and you feel that instant connection, like you two have known each other for a lifetime. Learning NLP can help you inject that feeling in others you interact with.

There may have been moments during a conversation where you feel as though you’re not being as acknowledged as you should be. These are from discouraging signals that are given off by the other person such as: being interrupted, appearing preoccupied, body language, breaking eye contact, etc.

Now there may have also been times when you have given off discouraging signals, which can put people off from wanting to build rapport with you.

NLP can teach you how to improve your communication skills and prevent you from giving off discouraging signals, so that you can build strong rapport with others, and create great relationships!

Matching

In theory, when people are like each other, they’ll find that they like each other.

A powerful NLP technique is called matching, which is a form of non-verbal communication. It helps the other person feel as though you two are alike which will build great rapport with them.

Matching is similar to mirroring, which is self-explanatory - literally mirroring the other person’s actions, i.e. tilting your head when they tilt theirs. However, the difference between matching and mirroring is that the former appears more natural, the timing (pacing) is different and less strange.

However, you might have noticed that mirroring and matching is a natural thing that we humans do, particularly with people we are very close with.

This NLP technique teaches you to focus on improving your body language and matching their tone of voice.

With more practice, you’ll be more aware of certain behavioural patterns that you and the other person will have when communicating with each other.

This means that you will end up actually learning a lot more about someone, which will allow you to find ways to make them feel special, resulting in you building great relationships with people.

Learn NLP

Matching someone’s behaviour requires practice. It must appear subtle, especially with mirroring as it can come across as strange to the other person. You may

As an NLP practitioner, I can help you perfect the skill of matching so that you can build strong rapport. Not only matching but also help you build effective communication skills by teaching you NLP basics that will allow you to build better and stronger relationships with people in your personal and professional life.

If you are ready to learn about yourself, communicate better, become more influential and ultimatly have all the tools you need to improve yourself and overcome any hurdles that life throws at us from time to time, then the time is now to learn NLP. Click here to learn more.

The Emotional Game Beneath the Cards: Why Your Best Poker Lives or Dies in Your Nervous System
July 8, 2026

If you play poker seriously, you have probably had the same unsettling experience more than once. You study. You review hands. You understand ranges, position, pot odds and the maths of the situations you keep finding yourself in. Away from the table, calm and unhurried, you make good decisions almost automatically. Then you sit down, the cards come out, something goes against you, and a different

Shy Bladder Syndrome: Why Your Body Won't Let You Go in Public
June 29, 2026

You walk up to the urinal, or step into a busy airport restroom, or close the narrow door of an aeroplane lavatory. You need to go. You have needed to go for a while. And nothing happens. The harder you focus, the more your body seems to lock. Footsteps approach, a tap runs, someone shifts their weight in the next stall, and the window closes completely. You give up, wash your hands, and walk out still needing to go.

How Hypnotherapy Works for Insomnia: Reaching the Patterns That Conscious Effort Cannot Touch
June 23, 2026

Hypnosis is widely misunderstood, and those misunderstandings tend to make people either dismiss it or fear it. Neither response is warranted. The reality of clinical hypnotherapy is much quieter and more practical than the popular image suggests.

What Recovery From Retroactive Jealousy Actually Looks Like
June 10, 2026

Why You Spend When You Feel: Understanding Emotional and Impulse Spending
June 2, 2026

If you have ever bought something you did not need, opened a shopping app in the middle of an anxious night, or walked away from a checkout feeling a hollow mix of temporary relief and quiet dread, you already know something important: spending is not always about things. Sometimes it is about feelings.

This is not a character flaw. It is not a lack of willpower, poor financial literacy, or some failure of discipline that other people seem to manage effortlessly. Emotional spending is a learned pattern, and like all learned patterns, it made sense when it formed. The nervous system found something that worked, and it kept using it.
